DEGREES
Kazan State Technological University offers a wide range of study and research programs designed to meet every possible academic need on the part of students and academics. These include:
Preparatory programs
Bachelor's degree programs (B.Sc.)
Master's degree programs (M.Sc.)
Specialist's diploma programs (S)
Doctoral programs (Ph.D. and D.Sc.)
PREPARATORY PROGRAMS
The Preparatory programs include study of Russian as foreign language (in volume approximately 1000 hours) and Russian language of theoretical disciplines (mathematics, physics, chemistry, economy etc.). The program has two structures of preparation - technical and economic. Duration of Study: 1 year.
BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMS (B.Sc.)
The program follows a specific curriculum with auditorium load of about 26-30 hours per week. The content of courses is fixed in accordance with the State Educational Standard. The program includes professional and special courses in science, the humanities and social-economic disciplines, professional training, completion of final research paper/project and sitting for State final exams. Duration of Study: 4 years full time + 1 year of the Preparatory programs if needed.
MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMS (M.Sc.)
Duration of Study: 6 years + 1 year of the Preparatory programs if needed. Master's Programs enable students to continue their Ph.D. study. For the students already having a degree of the bachelor (B.Sc), duration of Study: 2 years + 1 year of the Preparatory programs if needed. The Master's Programs have the expressed research orientation.
SPECIALIST'S DIPLOMA PROGRAMS (S)
Specialist's diploma programs are professionally oriented (engineering, management). The qualification of the Specialist's diploma (S) proves to be true by the State Diploma of the Specialist (engineer, manager etc.). Duration of Study: 5/5,5 years + 1 year of the Preparatory programs if needed. For the students already having a degree of the bachelor (B.Sc), duration of Study: 1,5-2 years + 1 year of the Preparatory programs if needed. The Specialist's diploma programs include special Educational rates of scientific, humanitarian and socio economic disciplines, professional practice, professional training, completion of final research paper/project, Graduation exams. The diploma of the Specialist (S) enables to continue study under the program Ph. D. (aspirantura).
Having as the founders of Government of Russian Federation and Republic Tatarstan (basis - Decision of Government of Russian Federation # 722 of June 16, 1997), KSTU has had an opportunity to diffuse the mechanism of founding activity to a level of the educational programs. It has allowed involving means of the enterprises - founders of the educational programs and enterprises - trustees for purchase of the equipment and creation of new educational laboratories. It has helped to lower cost of training up to US $ 1500-2000 per one year.
DOCTORAL PROGRAMS: Ph.D. programs (aspirantura) and D.Sc. Programs (doktorantura).
Duration of Study Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs: 3 years + 1 year of the Preparatory programs if needed. Candidates must have a specialist's diploma (S) or a master's (M.Sc) degree . The programs have the expressed research orientation. The programs include individual research experiment, study of methods of research and information technologies, qualifying exams, spelling of the dissertation and her public protection. After protection of the dissertation the Degree Ph. D. (kandidat nauk) is given.
Duration of Study Doctoral (D.Sc.) programs: 3 years + 1 year of the Preparatory programs if needed. The candidates should have a Degree Ph. D. (kandidat nauk). The programs are individual. After protection of the dissertation the Degree D.Sc. (doctor nauk) is given.
